Photos for Purpose

"Life is more precious than I can comprehend, but believe me, I'm trying." -John O'Callaghan

Photos for Purpose started as a therapy project and has turned into something that helps me cope from day to day.  I've found so much purpose in consciously seeking beauty in my daily life.  Whether my day consisted of sitting at home doing nothing or out and about on an awesome adventure, I have a mission.  That mission is to find something good in every day.  Sometimes is awesome scenery, sometimes it's a feel good photo, sometimes it's just something that made me think, but it's always a part of my day that reminds me that life IS worth living.

The series is fun and simple.  The posts have no layout or formula.  Sometimes I just post a picture and a quote.  Sometimes I have a lot to say.  It's all just how I'm feeling or what I want.  The healing is in seeking the photo, having something to do with it (putting it on this blog), just holds me accountable.

I wanted to share Photos for Purpose and why it works for me because it may work for someone else.  I never thought that something so simple could remind me to live well.  I never imagined that a silly game that I laughed at in a therapy session would change my life.  I still struggle.  I know what pain is and I feel it often.  But I am alive.  I feel connected.  I have meaning.  There are days when I feel so fulfilled that I don't need a photo to remind me that life is good.  But there are days when my only purpose is taking that picture - those are the days that this project works.

Maybe someone else out there will try this.  I think it's quite wonderful.  And if you don't want to try it for yourself, I hope you'll at least follow me on my journey of meaning, belonging, connection, and purpose.

Enjoy!
